Always Something To See In Port
Cartagena is one of the Mediterranean’s busiest ports and there is always something going on in the harbour. Container ships head in and out, cruise liners tie up just beneath the city walls, small sailing craft bob and their moorings while the huge super yachts of the rich provide a touch of elegance. These pictures show the world’s largest luxury yacht, the Rising Sun, with belongs to Larry Ellison, the billionaire owner of Oracle. Glimpsed undergoing repairs behind a fence is another luxury yacht, the Leander. The big red tug is the VB Antartico, which can obviously pack a powerful punch, while the other red vessel seen across the water is the Spanish navy’s polar exploration ship the Hesperides. There are also views of the container port and of the port generally. The military jetty can be seen at the entrance to the harbour. Spanish, American and other NATO warships are frequently seen tied up there. end
