Free Standing Façade

Cartagena has many buildings with interesting facades but the front is all that is left of one building in the historic area.

In fact, it’s just a fragment of the façade of a building that once stood in the little street that links Plaza Risueño with Plaza Merced.

Cartagena makes a great effort to preserve its historic facades and it has a programme of official funding to help restore facades where owners can’t afford to do so.

No doubt a new building will eventually arise at the site and the façade that stands so oddly alone today will be incorporate into it.
