Try Some Desert Island Cruising

No Ducks At Duck Castle

Cartagena’s old castle was largely destroyed by the start of the Twentieth Century but a park was laid out on the hillside which today remains a favourite spot for locals and visitors.

The easiest way to get up to the park is to use the big exterior lift in Calle Gisbert, but the more energetic can wander up the gentle slopes to the top.

The park featured a pond which was immediately populated by ducks when it opened.  This gave the hill its popular name, Duck Castle, still in use instead of the more formal Conception Castle.

Sadly, there is no quacking to be heard at the moment as the ducks have been removed from Duck Castle as a result of fears about bird flu.
